This anthem offers a new musical setting of the famous and much-loved words by Isaac Watts, making it especially suitable for Lent and Passiontide. Beginning with a duet for soprano and tenor soloists, it builds to an ecstatic peak before a quiet and reflective conclusion - both of which again feature a soprano solo.
First sung by the choir of St George's Kidderminster, the dedication is to the soprano soloist from those first performances.
